I chose to plan my own baby shower. I had friends and family offer their help but my planning side couldn’t resist on taking this task on my own. I was determined to make my baby shower budget friendly and spend the least amount of money possible. In the end, our family did help in some ways and I’ll mention how below.
Before you start, decide what your budget is. Christian had just received a new job offer that came with a three month probation period. I was going to go on Maternity leave in 2 months and we did not want to put any money we didn’t need to put. We established a budget and made sure we did not go over that budget.
1. Make your own Decorations!
I thought making a balloon arch would be hard but did you guys know there is actually such thing as a balloon arch strip tape? Well there is! This became so useful and handy because all we basically needed to do was blow up balloons and put the end of the balloon into the balloon arch strip. We also created our own center pieces and used white plastic table covers that were purchased at the dollar store. We also picked a selected number of balloons to blow up with helium and placed them at each table. TIP: Dollar Tree and any dollar stores are great for finding cheap and affordable decorations.

2. Food
Have someone make the food for your shower. Christians Dad is a great cook and has his own restaurant. He makes delicious food and offered to make our food for our baby shower. We kept the menu simple and kept popular food staples on our menu that everyone can enjoy such as: Chicken, Rice, Salads, and Pastas. You’d be suprised how much money you can save by not adding any seafood or steaks to your menu.
3. Cake
My sister offered to buy the cake for us. I made her keep the cake simple to cut costs. Instead of getting a huge cake with multiple stories, fancy decorations and details, I told her to get a nice simple cake.

4. Games
Plan a whole bunch of games to play. Baby showers are known for games and they can actually take up most of the time in the baby shower!
5. Favors
We found small bars of soap on amazon that came in a pack of 24 for about $30.00. We used these bar of soaps for our favors and typed a thank you message in each one of them when we gave them out to our guests.

6. Invitations
My friend is a graphic designer and made and printed our invitations. I’m super grateful for this BUT to save MORE MONEY I would recommend to make your own invitations or send e-vites.

7. Hall Space/Rental
We live in a small apartment and have a lot of family so we definitely could not have our baby shower in our apartment. We had to rent a hall and found a hall that was very affordable. A good tip I learned while party hall hunting is find out if a hall provides a discount for having parties on Sundays, early mornings, or early afternoons. Also, see if you have someone that can lend you their backyard, or home. You can even have your baby shower in the park ! (weather permitting)
Fun Fact: I actually had my gender reveal and baby shower together! So no one knew my baby’s gender until after the fact. 🙂 This made people buy us more items from the registry or give us money instead. 😉
That’s all mommies! Good luck in your Baby Shower. Don’t forget to have tons of fun and take lots of pictures!
Love,
Andrea ❤️
